Founder Story

Hu Jieming — Founder of EKCNE Elevators

From Technician to Industry Pioneer — A 34-Year Journey

34 Years in Elevator Engineering | Senior Engineer | Holder of 30+ Patents

In 1992, at the age of 23, Hu Jieming entered the elevator industry as a technician. At that time, core technologies were heavily dependent on foreign suppliers. From the very beginning, he held a clear belief — only by mastering technology independently can truly reliable products be built.

With strong technical expertise and relentless dedication, he was promoted from a junior technician to deputy factory director within just four years — a rare achievement in an industry dominated by foreign enterprises.

In 1997, the elevator industry underwent a major technological shift. Legacy control systems were phased out, and the new technologies were controlled by a handful of overseas suppliers. While most manufacturers chose to purchase ready-made solutions, Hu made a bold decision that many considered impossible — to develop the system independently.

Within just three months, he led his team to successfully develop an industrial control system, filling a critical technological gap. This breakthrough not only saved the factory he worked for but also earned him the Foshan Science and Technology Award. He later became a shareholder through technical contribution.

Building the Foundation — Integrating Elevator Components Supply

Before founding EKCNE, Hu took a crucial step that would define the company’s future — integrating the elevator component supply chain.

At the time, sourcing elevator parts was highly fragmented. Customers had to work with different suppliers for control systems, traction machines, and safety components. This resulted in inefficiency and made problem tracing extremely difficult.

Hu recognized that integrating high-quality components into a unified system could:

  • Improve procurement efficiency
  • Offer better cost-performance options
  • Ensure consistent quality control across every elevator

He established his own component warehouse, enabling customers to source reliable, standardized elevator parts in one place.

This initiative not only built strong customer trust but also laid the most critical foundation for EKCNE — a self-owned component supply chain.

Today, this supply chain continues to serve customers worldwide, providing cost-effective and reliable elevator components across global markets.

2009 — The Birth of EKCNE

At the age of 46, Hu founded EKCNE Elevators with two core principles:

  • Build products that exceed industry standards
  • Never lock customers in through technical barriers

He also created the brand name EKCNE, representing:

  • Efficient
  • Keep Safe
  • Comfortable
  • Noiseless
  • Elevator

These five words reflect his complete philosophy of elevator design — performance, safety, comfort, quiet operation, and simplicity. Every employee is expected to understand and uphold these values.

30+ Patents — Driving Innovation Across Core Technologies

To date, Hu Jieming and his team have obtained more than 30 national patents, covering key areas such as:

  • Structural design
  • Safety systems
  • Intelligent control

Each patent represents the resolution of a real engineering challenge, reinforcing EKCNE’s commitment to continuous innovation.

Passenger Elevators — More Space with Less Shaft

Passenger Elevators — More Space with Less Shaft

In passenger elevator design, Hu has always emphasized one principle — technology must serve the customer.

Traditional elevators often require large shaft spaces to achieve comfortable cabin sizes, forcing customers to sacrifice valuable building area. EKCNE solves this through optimized structural design, achieving “smaller shaft, larger cabin.”

All designs comply with EN81 international standards, ensuring both safety and performance.

Another key advantage is the partially integrated structure design, which allows:

  • Faster installation
  • Reduced labor requirements
  • Lower installation costs

By integrating key structures at the factory level, on-site assembly becomes significantly more efficient.

Home Elevators — Flexible Solutions for Real Homes

To meet diverse villa installation needs, Hu led the development of:

  • 6 structural systems
  • 25 product models

These solutions can accommodate approximately 95% of residential installation scenarios.

Even spaces as small as 1 square meter can support a traction home elevator.

This reflects Hu’s consistent user-first approach — not only focusing on performance, but also on installation convenience and cost efficiency.

Open System Philosophy — Giving Control Back to Customers

Open System Philosophy — Giving Control Back to Customers

In the elevator industry, many manufacturers lock customers into their ecosystem through proprietary control systems. This forces customers to rely on original suppliers for maintenance and parts, often at high costs.

Hu rejected this model from the start.

EKCNE adopts a fully open system with:

  • No encrypted control systems
  • No proprietary restrictions
  • Standardized high-quality components

This approach allows customers to:

  • Source parts globally
  • Use local technicians for maintenance
  • Avoid high-cost supplier dependency

As a result, after-sales costs are significantly reduced, while system reliability remains high.

User-Centered Thinking — Solving Problems, Not Just Selling Products

When asked how the company profits without locking customers in, Hu’s answer is simple:

Customers choose us because they trust us, and they stay because it’s easy to work with us.

EKCNE focuses on:

  • Higher-than-industry product standards
  • Better materials and structural optimization
  • Strict quality control

While delivering products in the most open and flexible way — without restrictions or hidden limitations.

To further improve efficiency, Hu developed a shaft production line, enabling a one-stop solution for both elevator systems and shaft structures.

The company also offers:

  • OEM structural customization
  • Semi-turnkey solutions
  • Flexible project matching

Today, EKCNE maintains an after-sales satisfaction rate of 98.9%, reflecting its long-term commitment to customer experience.
