Hotel elevator systems must accommodate several transportation patterns that often overlap during daily operations. Guests travel between accommodation floors and public facilities, while housekeeping staff, food service personnel, and maintenance teams move equipment through the building. These movements create different…
Elevator speed selection requires an assessment of travel height, passenger demand, stopping patterns, and the performance expected from the elevator group. Building height provides an initial reference, but it does not establish the appropriate rated speed by itself. The selection…
An elevator request for quotation (RFQ) must define the equipment requirements, building constraints, and supply responsibilities that determine what a supplier is pricing. A request specifying only a 1,000 kg capacity, 1.0 m/s speed, and six stops leaves several questions…
What Is Elevator Passenger Capacity? Elevator passenger capacity calculation involves three related factors. Rated load establishes the elevator’s designed carrying load, available car area constrains passenger space, and handling capacity measures how many people the elevator system can transport during…
Machine roomless (MRL) elevator dimensions define the space required for the car, platform, hoistway, entrance, overhead and pit. Unlike conventional traction elevators, MRL systems locate the hoisting machine and associated equipment within the hoistway or other designated spaces, eliminating the…
Elevator capacity is the maximum rated load an elevator is approved to carry, expressed in kilograms (kg) or pounds (lbs). Under the EN passenger-count convention, a 1,000 kg elevator can be designated for 13 passengers, while a 1,600 kg elevator…
For many conventional passenger elevators, common clear door widths range from 800 to 1100 mm, while 2100 mm is a frequently offered clear opening height. These are typical manufacturer configurations, not universal code requirements. Residential, hospital, freight, and accessible elevators…
To request an elevator quotation, buyers should provide the project location, building type, elevator quantity, rated load, speed, served stops, travel height, shaft dimensions, door configuration, and required supply scope. Electrical specifications, local safety requirements, and installation responsibilities also affect…
The minimum space required for an elevator depends on its type, rated capacity, shaft arrangement, and building structure. Compact home lifts may use a smaller equipment footprint than conventional enclosed elevators, while a residential elevator may require a clear hoistway…
